Character Canon: Jak and Daxter series
Character Journal:
jakofalleco
Canon Point Character is Taken From: End of Jak 3
Importing Game CR (Y/N and Which Game): N
If OC, a brief summary of their history: N/A
If fan-made AU, what has changed in your character's history? What changes has the AU made to your character's personality? These changes, both to the canon and to the character's personality, must be significant enough to qualify as needing an AU. N/A
Personality: Jak has very few wants out of life. These include, but are not limited to: the freedom to travel wherever he pleases without the authorities breathing down his neck, friends and family who care about him, some healthy exercise involving some stress-relieving violence, and especially freedom from anyone who treats him as a tool, a unit, or worst of all a test subject. Unfortunately, life in the biome is not likely to be satisfying to Jak.
Why is Jak like this? He was always a free-spirited adventurer, a boy with a tendency to ignore the rules when rule-breaking would be more fun than obedience. After an extended stay in prison at the hands of the local government and daily torture as the latest lab rat, he's added an extreme distrust for authority onto that list. If he feels trapped, he is going to be an unhappy camper, and he will be VERY loud about it.
His relationship issues come from another place. Growing up, Jak had three people close to him: his ever-chatty best friend, the kind yet bossy girl he liked, and the crotchety old sage who acted as his substitute father. When he was thrown into the future and transformed into a dark warrior, he eventually met them all again, but it was never quite the same. His new allies all had a common enemy in the same government that had tortured Jak, but it was so much harder for Jak to bring himself to trust anyone new at this stage.
People who earn Jak's trust tend to have a few things in common: they fight for the same cause, they accept him even with the dangerous temper, they don't back down in a fight, and they don't give orders that Jak doesn't see the reason for. People Jak will never like? Are arrogant folk (pot meet kettle), bullies, and oppressors.
But this trust-building exercise is made difficult by Jak's temper. He's as over confident as he ever was, but that ego has an angry edge. His preferred solutions to problems are big, loud, and often explosive. And he's very quick to anger when he believes someone is crossing a line. Yet he's a little more mature than he used to be: he's never run from responsibility despite his statements to the contrary, and there's an appreciation for life deep down.
And he will cooperate...most likely. Especially if he's allowed to do so on his terms, and if it involves explosions.
Writing Sample:
"This is the last time I'm asking you. Where. The hell. Are my guns?" Jak was doing his very best to intimidate the holographic projection in front of him, a very furry something that almost looked like a crocadog minus the scales---whatever it was, it was on Jak's last nerve. He lowered himself to the thing's level and glared, his upper lip curling. In response, the strange furry critter tilted its head and barked twice, something that was understood to mean 'somewhere where you're not getting 'em, weirdo'.
The projection, oblivious to Jak's downturned eyebrows and almost-snarl of frustration, chased its tail in a circle and disappeared, just a second before Jak's fingers passed through what would have been the dog's head. The human left behind shook his head sharply, glaring at the spot where his nemesis had disappeared. "Some welcome that was. Geez, even the Precursors helped sometimes."
In Jak's opinion, this place was turning out to be a real drag. No guns? Fighting was going to be a lot less fun when it came time for that---he knew it would happen, it always did, it was just a question of when. So he'd be fighting alone in this world the old-fashioned way. Another downside to this place: no friends.
But no one was bossing him around! That was an upside. But the possible reason for that, of course, was that he was largely left alone. There were other people here, sure (and their ears sure were strange---they looked like nubs!) but for the most part they'd met Jak once and wisely decided to give him his space. He could get used to that, maybe.
So he wasn't exactly social. Instead, he was dead tired. Jak flopped against the grass and closed his eyes, figuring that a small moment off-guard was safe. Just this once, when it was quiet. And when it was quiet, he was reminded of why that was so unusual. He spoke the reason to fill the silence, absently rubbing his shoulder.
"Wish you were here, Dax. Maybe you speak bark---nah. You'd just tell it where it can shove the tail."
With that vivid image intruding on his thoughts, Jak snickered to himself.
Character Special Abilities (can be a link to Wiki): Jak is athletic and a strong brawler, skilled in both hand-to-hand combat and gun fights. He also has a knack for picking up piloting skills on the fly for any vehicle he comes across.
Items/Pets Characters Will Arrive With: Nothing but his clothes. Guns run out of bullets and Daxter isn't a pet.
